A Successful 3rd Edition of the Summer School on Multidisciplinary Management of Neuromuscular Diseases in Marseille

From 21 to 24 October 2026, EURO-NMD and FILNEMUS jointly organised the 3rd Summer School on Multidisciplinary Management of Neuromuscular Diseases in Marseille, France, bringing together 53 participants from 14 countries.

This third edition once again highlighted the importance of international collaboration, multidisciplinary education and the exchange of expertise in improving care for people living with neuromuscular diseases.

Designed for students and early-career healthcare professionals, the Summer School offered a comprehensive programme covering key aspects of multidisciplinary care, recent advances in the field and best clinical practices. Through expert-led lectures, interactive workshops and practical discussions, participants had the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge, develop their skills and exchange experiences with specialists from across Europe.

Bringing the patient perspective into clinical education was also a central part of the programme. Dedicated sessions explored the psychological and social impact of neuromuscular diseases on patients and their families, from diagnosis to the challenges of everyday life.

The EURO-NMD Patient Journeys initiative was also presented as an example of how collaboration between patients and healthcare professionals can help identify unmet needs, improve care coordination and promote a more person-centred approach.

Beyond the educational sessions, the Summer School provided a valuable opportunity to build connections between healthcare professionals and patient representatives, reinforcing the importance of working together to advance neuromuscular care across Europe.

EURO-NMD and FILNEMUS warmly thank all speakers, experts, patient representatives and participants for their contributions to the success of this third edition!
