…PRESENTERS: Dr. Johann Böhm (Translational Medicine and Neurogenetics Department – Institute of Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology – IGBMC)
Dr. Johann Böhm is a Research Director (equivalent to Full Professor) at the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm). He has dedicated his academic career to the study of rare diseases, beginning with a PhD in 2004 at the Institute of Human Genetics in Freiburg, Germany, where he focused on malformation disorders.
Motivated by a passion for translational research and international collaboration, Dr. Böhm completed his postdoctoral training at the IGBMC in Strasbourg, France. In the team of Jocelyn Laporte, he contributed to major advances in the field of congenital myopathies, including the discovery of novel disease-causing genes, detailed studies in cell and animal models, and the development of therapeutic proof-of-concept strategies. He was appointed Research Associate in 2014 and promoted to Research Director in 2020.
