…MAIN TITLE: Peripheral Nerve Imaging with Focus on Inflammatory Neuropathies
- “Ultrasound Use” by Prof. Nens van Alfen (Radboud University Medical Center, Nijmegen, the Netherlands)
- “Magnetic Resonance Neurography” by Dr. H. Stephan Goedee (University Medical Center, Utrecht, the Netherlands)
Professor Nens van Alfen is a neurologist and clinical neurophysiologist with a special interest and expertise in peripheral nerve disorders and neuromuscular ultrasound. She is the chair of the Clinical Neurophysiology laboratory and one of the founders of the Peripheral Nerve Clinic Team at the Radboud university medical center in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. She is also the current president of the IFCN Society of Neuromuscular Imaging.
Dr. H. Stephan Goedee is a neurologist and clinical neurophysiologist at the University Medical Center Utrecht, specializing in neuromuscular disorders with a focus on inflammatory neuropathies and motor neuron diseases. He completed his medical training at a large general teaching hospital and UMC Utrecht, gaining expertise in neuromuscular ultrasound and electrodiagnostic techniques.
His PhD thesis explored the use of nerve ultrasound in diagnosing neuropathies, and he has conducted extensive research on nerve ultrasound and MRI in inflammatory neuropathies. Dr. Goedee serves on the board of the national society of clinical neurophysiology, is a member of the scientific panel of the European Academy of Neurology, and regularly contributes as faculty in national and international training courses on neuromuscular ultrasound.
His research contributions include studies on chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), multifocal motor neuropathy (MMN), and improving diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for these conditions.
