…THEME: Pathomechanisms of Charcot-Marie-Tooth

…PRESENTER: Dr. Stefano Carlo Previtali (IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, Italy)

Dr. Stefano Previtali, MD, PhD, is a Physician Scientist working at the San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan, Italy. He is currently head of the Neuromuscular Repair Research Unit and Chief of the Neuromuscular Disease Team in the Neurology Unit.

His main interest is preclinical, translational and clinical research on genetic disorders of peripheral nerve and skeletal muscle, with particular interest in CMT/HMN neuropathies and muscular dystrophies.  He performed studies on nerve development and regeneration, cellular and mouse modelling of CMT disorders, pathogenesis and modelling of muscular dystrophies (e.g. LAMA2 disease) and cell therapy for muscular dystrophy. In clinical research, he participated in natural history studies, genotype-phenotype correlations on different neuromuscular disorders (E.g., CMT and motor neuropathies, Duchenne, LAMA2 and FSHD muscular dystrophy), and participated and/or coordinated clinical trials on genetic and acquired neuromuscular diseases.
