Dr. Adela Della Marina is a senior physician in the Department of Neuropediatrics at the University Hospital Essen (Lead: Prof. Ulrike Schara-Schmidt). Her scientific work focuses on disorders of the neuromuscular junction or its involvement in the context of other conditions, such as neuromuscular or syndromic diseases. She is the head of the Myasthenia Center for Children and Adolescents, which is the only center (certified by the German patient support group) of its kind in Germany. In the field of juvenile myasthenia gravis and congenital myasthenic syndromes, the center serves as the primary referral institution for affected children and adolescents and functions as a consulting resource for neuropediatricians involved in their care. The center is involved in ongoing studies on JMG and CMS.
