…PRESENTER: Prof. Karim Wahbi, PhD, MD (APHP Hospital Cochin, Paris, France)
…BIOSKETCH: Karim Wahbi is a University Professor and Hospital Practitioner at the University of Paris. He coordinates the Cochin Hospital site of the Reference Center for Neuromuscular Diseases North/East/Ile de France, dedicated to the management of cardiomyopathies associated with neuromuscular and metabolic diseases, particularly mitochondrial diseases. It is a founding member of the Paris Myocardial Institute (IMyP). He coordinates the care, teaching and research activities around the theme of the Cochin Reference Center and more broadly within the IMyP for dilated cardiomyopathies. He is involved in the transition of care from children to adults in association with Professor Bonnet’s team and consults in the genetics department of the Georges Pompidou European Hospital directed by Professor Jeunemaitre for the genetic exploration of cardiomyopathies.
Karim Wahbi coordinates several national and international projects, including registries and therapeutic trials on neuromuscular and mitochondrial cardiomyopathies, notably within FILNEMUS, the neuromuscular care network. He regularly communicates the work of his team in national and international scientific meetings in cardiology and neurology.
