Dr. Guido Primiano is a neurologist at the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS in Rome, where his research focuses on inherited myopathies and other neuromuscular disorders. His research activity is organised around three complementary areas: (1) the comprehensive clinical characterisation of large patient cohorts, with the aim of refining genotype-phenotype correlations, improving phenotypic classification, and contributing to the standardisation of clinical management; (2) the identification and validation of biomarkers with diagnostic, prognostic, and treatment-monitoring potential; and (3) the investigation of the molecular and metabolic mechanisms governing skeletal muscle function under both physiological and pathological conditions, with the ultimate goal of advancing the understanding of disease pathogenesis and supporting the development of novel therapeutic strategies.
