Expert in neuromuscular disorders, with a 40 years-experience in clinical and biological field developed in USA (Columbia University, New York) and then in Italy (University of Torino). Since year 2000, Head of a tertiary Neuromuscular Center, covering the Italian North-West Region. The Neuromuscular Unit includes a Laboratory for Neuromuscular diseases, where muscle biopsies are studied, and a Neuromuscular Clinic with inpatient and outpatient offices. The Unit is part of the Department of Neuroscience and of the ‘University Hospital City of Health and Sciences in Torino, Italy, where routine diagnostic and therapeutical protocols are implemented; The Center takes care of over 1000 patients; the tissue bank contains over 3500 muscle and nerve biopsy specimens. Clinical research experience involves therapeutical trials, observational studies on natural history, genotype-phenotype correlation, and standards of care. Moreover, a personal close collaboration with patients Association has been perfectioned in the last 20 years.
