Catherine Feeney is a Nurse Consultant working in the Nationally Commissioned Mitochondrial Service for adults and children. She takes an active role in the planning of service provision, developing care pathways and patient and public engagement activities. She provides direct patient care and consultation with her own case load in the mitochondrial MDT clinic. In addition, she provides expert advice and consultancy to patients, carers and colleagues within the specialist area, as well as locally, nationally and internationally.
Claire Jarvis is a Nurse Consultant working in the Highly Specialised Service for Rare Mitochondrial Disorders in Newcastle upon Tyne. She qualified as a nurse in 2003 and has worked for The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since. She has always worked in Neurosciences and Stroke and has a particular interest in the care of adults living with complex neurological and neuromuscular conditions. She is actively involved with leading clinical innovation and service development within mitochondrial disease, fatigue management, and patient-centred research. She is passionate about improving the outcomes for our patients living with mitochondrial disease through evidence-based practice, multidisciplinary collaboration, and meaningful patient collaboration.
Eilis Moody is a Nurse Consultant in Reproductive Medicine with over 30 years’ experience in fertility care. She began her fertility career at King’s College Hospital, London in 1994 and moved to Newcastle Fertility Clinic in 2002. As a Nurse Consultant she works at an advanced practice level, managing her own patient caseload. She helps plan and review the running of the service to continuously enhance the care experience of patients and working experience of the team. She is the lead nurse for the fertility side of the Mitochondrial Reproductive Options Pathway and has been involved in the project from the very early days. Her role involves meeting with patients to explain their pathway, planning treatment dates, coordinating mitochondrial donors and recipient treatment plans and guiding and supporting patients throughout the pathway. As an advanced practitioner she performs ultrasound scans, egg retrievals and embryo transfers for the mitochondrial patients.
