Born in Genoa, Italy, on August 29, 1956. Current position: Full Professor in Neurology, Director Neurology Unit, IRCCS San Martino Hospital, Genova (since November 2018); Director, Department of Neurosciences, Rehabilitation, Ophthalmology, Genetic and Maternal Infantile Sciences, University of Genova (since November 2021). Study career: classical high school diploma with 54/60 in 1975; degree in Medicine at the University of Genoa in 1981 with votes 110/110 cum laude, discussing a thesis on the pharmacokinetics of antiepileptic drugs; specialization in Neurology at the Neurological Clinic of the University of Genoa, 1985, with 50/50 cum laude discussing an experimental thesis on: “Demyelinating polyneuropathies in idiopathic monoclonal gammopathy: literature review and personal cases”; specialization in Neuropathology at the School of Specialization in Neuropathology of the University of Verona, 1991, discussing an experimental thesis on: “Neuropathy by Lead: clinical and neuropathological study of two cases of experimental intoxication”. Professional career: Prof. Schenone has held numerous positions as contract professor at the specialty schools of Diabetology and Metabolic Diseases, Geriatrics, Neurology and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. From August 1987 to Novembre 2005: assistant professor at the San Martino hospital, Neurology Clinic; from November 2005 to May 2018, Associate Professor in Neurology; May 2018: full professor in Neurology. P.I. in numerous clinical trial and competitive research projects from national and international funding societies. Academic career: 2008-2014 Director of the School of Specialty in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation; 2018 – today: Director of the School of Specialty in Neurology. 2015-2021: Coordinator of Bachelor and Master Degree in Physiotherapy; 2016 – today: Coordinator of the editorial borad of the Genova University Press. Reviewer acitivity: national and international journals; national and international funding societies Memberships: Since 1997 he is Ordinary Member of the Italian Association of Neuropathology (AINP), Italian Society of Neurology (SIN), Peripheral Nerve Society (PNS), Italian Association of Peripheral Nervous System (ASNP). Member of the board AINP (1997-2000) President of the AINP (2006-2007). Member of the board of the PNS (2005-2009). President of the ASNP (2016-2018).
