…TIMESLOT: 4 jan. 2024 16:00 CET…THEME: Cognitive Symptoms in Myopathies

…PRESENTER: Dr. Jens Reimann (Department of Neurology, University Hospital Bonn, Germany)

…BIOSKETCH:

Dr. Jens Reimann is a consultant neurologist at the Department of Neurology, University Hospital Bonn, Germany. He runs the department’s Muscle Lab (muscle research and myopathology unit, established by Prof. Felix Jerusalem in 1981) and supervises the clinical neurophysiology unit as well as the neuromuscular outpatient clinic of the Section for Neuromuscular Diseases, headed by Prof. Cornelia Kornblum.

Jens trained as a neurologist at the University of Bonn. He occasionally adjourned his clinical training for research work, including a two-year stay at Prof. Terry Partridge’s Muscle Cell Biology Group, MRC CSC, IC, London, UK. He completed his MD thesis on muscle regeneration in mdx mice at Prof. Anton Wernig’s Group at the Department of Neurophysiology, University of Bonn, in 2000. He specialised in neurology in 2008 and was appointed consultant neurologist in 2010.

While Jens tries to live his motto “If it concerns skeletal muscle, I’m interested!”, muscle histopathology remains his favourite topic. He has a long-standing interest in the basic mechanisms of muscle damage, denervation and repair. His special interest is the interaction and overlap of pathomechanisms, e.g. structural with metabolic or inflammatory with degenerative processes.
