The Antwerp University Hospital has a Neuromuscular Diseases Centre covering all areas of expertise: Rare muscle diseases ORPHA98472, Rare Peripheral Nerve ORPHA98496
diseases, Neuromuscular Junction ORPHA98491 disorders, Motor Neuron Diseases ORPHA98503, Mitochondrial Diseases ORPHA68380.

It provides ancillary tests for neuromuscular conditions, including Neuromuscular biopsies, Neurophysiology, MRI for NMD, Autonomous nerve system tests and Genetic testing.

The hospital meets the 5th edition of quality standards defined by the Joint Commission International (JCI) and obtained in August 2015 the JCI quality approval.
The labs for pathology, clinical biology and medical genetics have an ISO 15189 accreditation.
The healthcare provider participates in health care quality assessments organized by the regional and federal health authorities.
All research laboratories are under the supervision of the Ethical committee of the hospital.
