World Mitochondrial Awareness Month takes place in September, and it’s a global initiative to raise awareness about mitochondrial diseases. These diseases are chronic, genetic disorders that occur when mitochondria, the powerhouses of the cell, fail to produce enough energy for the cell or organ to function properly.
For 2024, ERN EURO-NMD is likely to host a series of webinars as part of the World Mitochondrial Awareness Month. These webinars are expected to cover a range of topics related to mitochondrial diseases, including the latest research developments, clinical practices, patient care strategies, and personal stories from those affected by these conditions.
