Dr. Tiziana Enrica Mongini, MD (born in 1956 in Turin, Italy) is an Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Turin and a leading specialist in neuromuscular disorders. She practices at the AOU Città della Salute e della Scienza – Molinette Hospital in Turin, within the Neurology Unit, where she leads the Neuromuscular Diseases Unit and its associated laboratory.
Dr. Mongini graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Turin, where she also completed her specialization in Neurology. Following an early professional experience in the United States, she has held a permanent academic position within the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Turin since 1988.
She is highly experienced in the diagnosis and management of patients with neuromuscular diseases, including Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease. Within her institution, she is responsible for dedicated clinical pathways tailored to individual patient needs, with a specialized outpatient clinic operating several days per week and addressing both primary conditions and associated complications.
Her clinical and research activities have long focused on genetic diseases affecting skeletal muscle. Her main areas of expertise include muscular dystrophies, metabolic myopathies (such as glycogen storage diseases and mitochondrial myopathies), and inflammatory myopathies. She has a particular interest in advancing diagnostic approaches, as well as in genotype–phenotype correlations and innovative therapeutic strategies.
Through her combined clinical, academic, and research roles, Dr. Mongini is recognized as an expert in neuromuscular disorders at both national and international levels.
