Professor Sabine Rudnik-Schöneborn

- Professor and Lecturer in Clinical Genetic

Representative for the ERN: Sabine Rudnik-Schöneborn, MD and PhD, is Professor and Lecturer in Clinical Genetics at the Institute of Human Genetics, Medical University Innsbruck, Austria. She is a medical doctor specialising in human genetics at the University of Bonn, Germany. She worked many years as a senior clinical geneticist at the Institute of Human Genetics, University Hospital Aachen, Germany. For several years, she has been head of the ethics and policy committee of the German Society for Human Genetics and a member of the Robert-Koch commission within the framework of the German Genetic Diagnosis Act. She has been a member of the scientific committee of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Muskelkranke, and member of the Muscular Dystrophy Network (MD-NET) and the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Network (CMT-NET) in Germany. Her research interests include the genetic characterisation of inherited conditions (in particular neuromuscular diseases), genetic counselling, the legal, ethical, and policy implications of new genetic technologies, and reproductive issues in women with neuromuscular disorders.
