Rosario Santos

Laboratory Director of the Molecular Genetics Unit of the Centro de Genética Médica Dr. Jacinto Magalhães, CHUPorto, and an Integrated Investigator of the Unit for Multidisciplinary Research in Biomedicine, Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences, University of Porto (UMIB/ICBAS/UP). She obtained her BSc Honours degree in Genetics from the Faculty of Science, University of the Witwatersrand (1984) and her Master’s degree in Medical Genetics from the School of Medicine and Pathology of same university (1986). She was granted an MSc in Medical Genetics from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (1988) and later obtained her PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto (2015).

Her complementary training included internships at the Neuroscience Center of the School of Medicine (University of North Carolina, USA), the Leiden University Medical Centre (University of Leiden, NL) and the Department of Human Genetics (University of Groningen, NL)
