Ricardo Taipa

Ricardo Taipa studied Medicine at the Abel Salazar Biomedical Sciences Institute (ICBAS), University of Porto, Portugal. Completed his neurology residency in 2011 at Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Porto – Hospital Santo António, became a Fellow of the European Board of Neurology in the same year and completed his fellowship in Neuropathology in 2013. During his training, Ricardo Taipa worked at the Manchester Neuroscience Centre in the UK under a fellowship from the European Academy of Neurology, and later during his training in neuropathology, at the Division of Neuropathology and Queen Square Brain Bank of the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London. He completed his PhD at the Life and Health Sciences Research Institute, University of Minho, in January of 2018 (“Neuroinflammation in early and late onset Alzheimer´s disease: a multimodal analysis”). He currently works as Neuropathologist and Neurologist (dedicated to the dementia clinic), he is director of the Neuropathology Unit and responsible for the Portuguese Brain Bank at Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Porto and Invited Assistant Professor at ICBAS University of Porto.
