Michelangelo Mancuso

Prof. Michelangelo Mancuso is a specialist in Neurology.
Graduated in Medicine in 1996, he specialized at the University of Pisa in 2000 and completed his training with specialization courses at Columbia University in New York. He also obtained his PhD at the University of Pisa in 2004.

He mainly deals with cerebrovascular, neuromuscular and genetic diseases, including mitochondrial diseases. He also has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of headache.

Currently Prof. Mancuso is Neurologist at the Neurological Clinic of Cisanello Hospital and Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Pisa.
Since 2013 he is the Physician in charge of the Ambulatory for Cerebrovascular Diseases and of the Doppler Laboratory of the Neurological Clinic of the Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria Pisana.

Member of prestigious scientific societies, he is author of numerous publications and has participated, also as organizer, in national and international congresses.

Prof. Mancuso is the Coordinator of the study group of Clinical Neurogenetics and Rare Diseases of the Italian Society of Neurology and coordinator of the Neurogenetics working group of the European Academy of Neurology. He is also chairman of the Mitochondrial Group of the ERN-NMD, together with Cornelia Kornblum, and he is also coordinating the new InterERN group on mitochondrial diseases (ERNs NMD, EYE, RND).
