Manuela Lavorato

Manuela Lavorato, PhD, has a career in translational research focused on mitochondrial diseases and myopathies, developed in the USA at the University of Pennsylvania and within the Mitochondrial Frontier Program at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she served as an Assistant Professor.
She is currently the ERN EURO-NMD Project Manager for Work Package 7, based at the University Hospital of Pisa.
Her work is dedicated to developing projects in collaboration with Patient Advocacy Groups and Neuromuscular Disease (NMD) associations, with a strong focus on patient and clinical needs. Her initiatives include the development of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), Patient Journeys, and clinical guidelines to enhance care and treatment strategies for individuals with NMDs.
