Letizia Mazzini

I am a neurologist and a scientist in the field of ALS. I have over 3 decades of research experience focused in translational research for ALS . Currently I am the Director of the tertiary ALS Centre in Novara (Italy) which represents a national reference center for more than new 200 patients/year. I coordinate a large multidisciplinary group of clinicians and researchers in ALS. I have a vast experience in management of national and international projects aimed to discover innovative therapeutic approaches. I had actively taken part in the foundation and updating of the first Italian population-based register in Piedmont. Another topic of my scientific activity is the research of new genes responsible for the familial or sporadic form of the disease in close collaboration with the Laboratory of Genetics of the University and the participation to international consortium. I authored or co-authored 200 papers on peer-reviewed international journals, as well as books, edited books, e-books. I received more than 5571 citations, with h-index = 39 (Sources: ISI Web of Knowledge and Scopus). By combining my experience in basic science and clinical research I intend to establish a high-impact translational program for ALS.
