Dr Papadimas is senior consultant neurologist and head of the laboratory of muscle diseases and outpatient clinic for muscle disorders at the Eginitio University Hospital in Athens.
He graduated from the Medical School of the University of Patras and completed his residency in Neurology at the Eginitio University Hospital. He obtained his PhD in Experimental Neuropharmacology from the University of Athens and completed a fellowship in neuromuscular disorders at the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich, after a scholarship obtained from the Hellenic Neurological Society. He participates in the training program for medical students and residents in neurology at the Eginitio Hospital.
His research interest is focused on the study of neuromuscular diseases and especially muscular dystrophies, myotonic dystrophies, spinal muscular atrophy, metabolic myopathies and inflammatory myopathies. He is actively involved in the organization of centers of excellence for rare diseases in Greece and he was a member of the Greek National Committee for Rare Diseases (January 2018 – January 2021). He is also a member of the working group for treatment guidelines, organization and management of the Greek National Registry for Spinal Muscular Atrophy since April 2020 and member of the scientific advisory board of the Federation of European Myotonic Dystrophy Associations (Euro-DyMA) since March 2021.
He has also published many articles in academic journals and has participated in many national and international scientific events.
