As the result of a collaboration between the European Academy of Neurology and European Reference Network for Rare Neuromuscular Diseases EURO-NMD, a new guideline on the management of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) has been published recently on the European Journal of Neurology.
We are convinced that this guideline brings added value for clinicians and carers of ALS patients and improves the quality of life of those stricken by the disease. As mentioned on EAN website, “numerous stakeholders contributed to this endeavour, including key opinion leaders from various European nations, systematic reviewers from Cochrane Response, patient representatives from EUpALS, as well as stakeholders from the EAN, ERN EURO-NMD, and ENCALS”.
The guideline covers all the phases of the disease and centers on mangement of care, besides discussing existing therapies.
