Registration is now open for the first module of the ERN-RND Postgraduate Curriculum, focusing on Cerebellar Ataxias and Hereditary Spastic Paraplegias (HSP). The first applications have already been received.
The curriculum is a UEMS-approved and adopted postgraduate training programme and, to our knowledge, the first ERN-based curriculum of its kind. It offers a structured pathway towards advanced competence in rare neurological diseases and is free of charge.
The programme strengthens clinical skills in disease recognition, diagnosis, genetic and other diagnostic testing, treatment, counselling, and care coordination.
The Ataxia/HSP module includes:
- Flexible online learning with readings, webinars, virtual patient cases and knowledge assessments
- A 3–6-month supervised clinical training period at an ERN-RND centre with appropriate Ataxia/HSP expertise; recognition of additional nationally recognised expertise centres is in development
- A structured logbook/portfolio documenting clinical training and competence development
- A final assessment leading to the European Certificate in Rare Neurological Diseases (ECRND) within the UEMS framework
Who can apply?
Medical doctors who have completed general professional training and are either in accredited specialist training or already board-certified in Neurology, Child Neurology, Medical Genetics, or another relevant specialty.
