Prof. Dr. med. David Brenner is a German neurologist and researcher specializing in neurogenetics and neurodegenerative diseases. He is a senior physician at the University Hospital of Ulm and leads a research group in translational neurogenetics.
His work focuses on the genetic and molecular mechanisms of motor neuron diseases, particularly amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), with the aim of developing gene-targeted therapies. He has contributed to the discovery of several ALS-associated genes, including NEK1, KIF5A, and TBK1.
He is also actively involved in clinical care and international research efforts, bridging laboratory discoveries with patient treatment.
