Eleni Zamba-Papanicolaou

Eleni Zamba Papanicolaou is a Cypriot neurologist and academic, currently serving as Senior Consultant Neurologist and Head of the Neuroepidemiology Department and EMG Laboratory at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics. She is also an Associate Professor at the institute’s postgraduate school.
Born on 13 July 1966 in Nicosia, she studied medicine at the University of Ioannina and completed her neurology residency at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She further specialized in neuromuscular disorders and clinical neurophysiology through advanced training in leading international centers in the United States and Europe, including Columbia University and Duke University.
Dr. Zamba Papanicolaou’s work focuses on neuroepidemiology and neuromuscular diseases, with particular expertise in hereditary neuropathies, motor neuron disorders, and electromyography. She has contributed to numerous international research projects and has been involved in major funded studies on genetic and clinical aspects of neurological diseases, particularly in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
An active researcher, she has authored and co-authored a significant number of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, advancing understanding of hereditary neuromuscular disorders and their genetic basis.
