Dr. Matteo Garibaldi

Matteo Garibaldi is a MD, PhD neurologist and assistant professor at Sant’Andrea Hospital of Sapienza University of Rome.

His main interests in clinical research are myopathology and neuroimaging in muscle disorders, mainly focused on the deep phenotyping of Muscle Diseases, by refining the histopathological spectrum and muscle MRI features on large cohorts of acquired and inherited muscle disorders, with particular regard to Myotonic Dystrophy, Congenital Myopathies and Inflammatory Myopathies.
His basic research is focused on the correlation between muscle imaging, muscle pathology, and pathophysiological mechanisms of diseases. He also participates as a Principal Investigator in different clinical Trials on inherited and acquired Muscle Disorders.

He is involved in international working groups on myopathology and muscle imaging, as MYO-MRI Group with the MYO-Share project, and he is a member of the EURO-NMD Neuromuscular Pathology Working Group
