OSLO UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL AND THE NATIONAL CONSORTIUM ON RARE NEUROMUSCULAR DISORDERS

Oslo University Hospital (https://oslo-universitetssykehus.no/oslo-university-hospital) is Scandinavia’s largest hospital and is in charge of specialized services for a number of national and multiregional assignments, including several national centres of competence and treatments. OUH consists of 14 medical divisions and more than 20.000 employees carry out more than 1.2 million patient treatments each year. The hospital promotes extensive research and education. Oslo University Hospital is a referral hospital for many children and adults with neuromuscular disorders in Norway. The NMD consortium consists of:
• EMAN (Unit for Congenital and Hereditary Neuromuscular Disorders) at OUH EMAN – Oslo universitetssykehus (oslo-universitetssykehus.no). EMAN is organized within the Neurological department in the Division of Clinical Neuroscience of OUH. EMAN is a multidisciplinary unit working on diagnostics, treatment and ensuring adequate long term follow-up for people with hereditary neuromuscular disorders. The Unit collaborates closely with the Division of Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine, the Division of Laboratory medicine (genetics, pathology and medical biochemistry), the Division of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine and the Division of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Diseases.

• NMK (National neuromuscular centre Norway) at UNN- University hospital of North Norway. NMK is organized within the Neuro-Ortho-Rehab Division at UNN Tromso, and is a national centre connected to Norwegian National Advisory unit on Rare Disorders at OUH. NMK is a multidisciplinary clinical and research centre working on diagnostics, treatment and ensuring adequate long term follow-up for adults with hereditary neuromuscular disorders. The Centre collaborates closely with a wide range of clinical entities within the hospital, UiT- The Arctic University and national and international stakeholders including the patient organization FFM.

• Frambu Resource Centre for Rare Disorders (frambu.no) is part of the Norwegian National Advisory Unit on Rare Disorders. Frambu is a multidisciplinary centre covering medical, social and educational aspects of life throughout the lifespan. Our centre offers courses, outbound councelling, research and up-to-date information for people living with hereditary neuromuscular disorders, their families and service providers. Frambu collaborates with EMAN and NMK as part of the Norwegian NMD-consortium.
