The Rhone-Alpes Neuromuscular Center is a consortium of teams involved in neuromuscular diseases in the three university hospitals of Lyon, Grenoble, and Saint-Etienne and is coordinated by the university hospital of Saint-Etienne. It was approved in 2003 and 2006 by the French Ministry of Heath. About 3400 patients are seen each year in the center including patients with ALS, peripheral neuropathies, neuromuscular junction disorders and myopathies. The available facilities for the diagnosis of these disorders include electrophysiology, muscle nerve and skin biopsies, imagery, genetic and immunological testing. Patients, both children and adults, can be followed as in and out patients and beneficiate from a multidisciplinary team approach according to their disease or receive appropriate treatments.
